Quilt of Valor

Senior Master Sgt. Dan Walston, Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Center, reads thank you letters from a quilted photo album he was given before his departure. Sergeant Walston is deployed to the mortuary from Langley Air Force Base, Va. He was presented a Quilt of Valor Oct. 14 for his service in returning America's fallen with dignity, honor and respect. The album accompanied the quilt and contained photos of and notes from quilters who make Quilts of Valor for wounded servicemen, veterans and those touched by war. More than 400 personnel from the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Center have been presented quilts for their service and support of the fallen. (U.S. Air Force photo/Christin Michaud)
