Diamond in the rough

Chaplain David Sparks gives Army Master Sgt. Walter Ritzannio, Army Liaison Team noncommissioned officer in charge, a special photo book commemorating his experience at the mortuary during a going-away ceremony Nov. 24, 2010. Chaplain Sparks and other presenters shared the same observations about Ritzannio -- he can be rough around the edges, but is full of heart and cares about Soldiers. He was referred to as sincere, genuine and compassionate. Army 1st Sgt. Alfred Venham, Joint Personal Effects Depot, told Ritzannio you don't have to wear the diamond to be a first sergeant, it comes from the heart. (U.S. Air Force photo/Christin Michaud)
