Air Force Survivor Advocacy Council visit AFMAO April 28, 2023

Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations recently hosted a visit with members of the Air Force Survivor Advocacy Council to learn more about AFMAO mission of fulfilling our nation’s sacred commitment of ensuring Dignity, Honor and Respect to our fallen while providing Care, Service and Support to their families across the DoD enterprise.

The council, created in October 2019, was designed to help strengthen support to Air Force survivors and validate their ongoing role in the larger Air Force family. It provides an opportunity for surviving family members to discuss with senior leaders the type of support services currently available and what they hope to see in the future.

There are 13 survivor representatives who are spouses, children, parents and siblings of fallen Airmen. The representatives, who applied to serve on the council, were selected to bring knowledge and experience on what has worked and where improvements are required based on their personal experience.
