Col Gregory B. Long is the Commander, Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations (AFMAO), Dover Air Force Base, Del. He is responsible for global contingency mortuary capabilities for current and past conflicts on behalf of the Department of War, supporting both Service and Combatant Command requirements. The team at AFMAO supports worldwide joint operations by operating the nation's sole port mortuary with 24/7/365 command, control, and support capabilities, in addition to Operating Locations in the Pacific and European Theaters. AFMAO's capabilities culminate in ensuring dignity, honor, and respect to our fallen while providing care, service, and support to units and families.
Col Long received his commission in 2006 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has distinguished himself through
various leadership roles, including Squadron Command, Flight Command, Staff Officer, and Executive Officer positions at the Squadron, Wing, Major Command, and
Headquarters levels. Prior to his current assignment, Col Long served as the Chief, Promotion and Evaluations Policy, Headquarters United States Air Force, Washington, D.C.
