Col. Martha J. “Jeannie” Sasnett is the Commander, Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. AFMAO is a Field Operating Agency under Deputy Chief of Staff, Manpower, Personnel and Services, Headquarters Air Force. AFMAO has global responsibility for all Air Force mortuary matters for current and past conflicts, operates the nation's sole port mortuary and provides global contingency mortuary response teams in support of Air Force and combatant command requirements.
Col. Sasnett received her commission through Air Force Officer Training School and entered active duty in May 2001. She has served at all levels of the personnel career field and in section command and unit command positions.
Col. Sasnett served as commander of the 42nd Force Support Squadron, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. She has also served staff tours at the Air Staff, Holm Center and at the Air Force Personnel Center. Her tour at the Air Staff culminated in her serving as the Executive Officer, Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Directorate. Additionally, she served as a Section Commander four times and as a Second Air Force Detachment Commander at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. She’s also deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Prior to her current assignment, the colonel served as the lead integrator for Great Power Competition and the stand up of Airman Development Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, where she was responsible for interpreting the key tasks and desired end state for multiple Great Power Competition initiatives to ensure the Air Force Personnel Center’s equities are adequately represented to implement Air Force Reoptimization.
