Members of Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations teamed up with the Quilts of Valor Foundation, Feb. 4, to create blocks for quilts during the QOV annual sew day.  This year marked the 10-year anniversary.

Last year more than 7,000 quilters participated and nearly 1,000 quilt tops were completed. The Mason Dixon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7234 in Ocean View, Delaware, hosted the QOV volunteers and representatives from the Delaware QOV chapter brought in a dozen sewing machines for the volunteers to use.

AFMAO volunteers spent the day with other quilters to cut, iron and sew blocks which will be used to create a topper for one complete quilt.

The completed quilts will then be awarded to service members and veterans touched by war with comfort and healing.  The quilts are not designed to be hung but used – wrapped around you whenever needed to feel the love and appreciation of a grateful American.
